Ten years ago Paul and I were married. As the vows say "In the presence of God..." we started our lives together. His presence has been evident as we continue to grow together. Praise Him!
These are the final words my FIL preached at our wedding: May Jesus Christ always be present, and then your lives will be rich, your service fruitful, your testimony clear, and your home will ever and always be a place where God himself will be pleased to dwell.

While Jeremy was here for the weekend, we put him to work and cut down a tree in the backyard. The brothers grunted and had manly time. I'm sad to see the tree go (even though half of it was dead), but it creates a new project since I'm turning it into a table. We were even able to supply Mark & Dena with a literal house warming gift....firewood! Thanks, Jeremy!Making sure it is level so my drink doesn't spill when it becomes a table!

We were so proud to be a part of Mark's seminary graduation. He has worked so hard and I was so excited to see him cross that stage! All the brothers and their dad were all here at some point this weekend to congratulate Mark (& Dena).......AND help them move! It was a fun and full weekend. Congrats, Mark!

The girls got their ornaments from Nana this week! They were so excited to open them and even more excited when they were so perfect for each of them.....Bethany got a C3PO from Star Wars and Lou got a dinosaur!Lou put hers on the tree......Bethy put hers in the entry hall. Yep, nothing says "Welcome & Merry Christmas" like a robot decked out in a wreath and lights!

I wish this post was about how beautiful my Christmas decorations are this year, but nope....not this year. I let the girls do the tree - which they thoroughly enjoyed - and it looks like they did it! I left 3 boxes of stuff in the closet. We did get up the nativity, tree, one of the villages and some garlands. It does look like Christmas around here, but it is surely not over the top. The big hit for the girls (other than letting them do the tree) was the window clings Aaron got them and the lights on the tree house(....before the squirrels chewed through the wires!).

Brahma's Hockey Game

Bethy won a drawing at her school last week for tickets to a Brahma's Hockey Game! She was so excited and we had a really fun family date night. We sat with another family from her school and the three kindergarten teachers. Too fun! It was the girls' first hockey game, so the whole experience was just great.

Sweet & Sassy

Bethany went to her best buddy, Caroline's, birthday party last week! It is so fun to see them together and makes me even more sad that they moved further away :( But, they are still close enough for playdates and parties!!!! Caroline's party was at Sweet & Sassy and let me just say that it lived up to its name. They were treated like movie star/super models. The girls got their hair and make-up done, sassy dresses to wear and pranced down the catwalk. After making their own bubble bath and eating cake, they were chauffeured around in a hot pink limo! Let me just say that Bethy had a BLAST and there was a ton of giggles and squeals to be heard!

This is my 4th year to head up a team for the Race in Tarrant county; and, this year my motivation is even more personal than before. [It started out when we were "Gail Force" in memory of a dear friend's mom.] This year, our team name is "Fond of Vonda" and we will participate in memory of my mother-in-law. The first three years I was able to do it in honor of her, but she won her battle in August and will cheer us on from Heaven. Vonda was an amazing woman and I know Heaven is even more beautiful (and louder!) now that she is there!
I also walk in memory of my maternal grandmother whom I'll meet in Heaven. She won her battle and passed away when my mom was only a teenager. There is no doubt from the legacy she left that she, too, was a wonderful person.
Along with walking in memory of these blessings, I walk for my girls. My prayer is that there will be a cure if they have to battle when they get older. My daughters deserve the chance that others haven't had.
I have complete faith in the plans of Jesus, but I also know he blessed people in the medical field with an abundance of knowledge. Through this foundation, people's lives are touched and that is worth the Race.

My friend, Robin, gave the girls a gift that we can never thank her enough for. She wanted to do something special after Vonda passed and she went above and beyond. There are not words that can express what these lovies mean to us. She had lovies made using one of Vonda's shirts! She had the girls' names and Vonda's life verse embroidered on them. Left us speechless. Thank you, Robin!

New Moon

Yep, I was one of "those" crazy 30-something women who went to the midnight showing of New Moon. I wasn't crazy alone, though! Candie is also a fanatic Jacob fan, so we went all out silly for the night. Haley also joined us for the pre-movie fun, but had to teach the next day so couldn't watch the movie with us. Haley even matched unintentionally. You can imagine the stares we got when we went out for sushi and then to Buffalo Wild Wings. So silly.Yes, we were total dorks and had matching homemade shirts! Nuts, I tell ya! Candie's was even misspelled, so her paw print had to cover it. We figured if we were going to do this, we might as well go all out and act like a couple of 14yo for the night. We laughed sooooooo hard. It was much needed!Finally in the theatre! Candie did a front roll in the aisle and we squealed when Jacob showed up without his shirt. Too fun. The teenagers around us thought we were looney... they were right!

Thanksgiving

We spent Thanksgiving in the panhandle with our families and had a great time! The girls and I went on Monday since Bethy had the whole week off and then Paul flew in on Wednesday. We had dinner Wednesday night with my Dad, but the batteries were dead in my camera. Duh! On Thursday, we had the big traditional dinner at my Mom's - yummy! Friday was time for Christmas decorations at my Mom's. Thankfully, Aaron did most all the work. In my defense, I did get on the roof and put up those lights. We spent most of the day with Paul's family. Then, Saturday was our family dinner with the Boergers. It was a fun day of playing, seeing the Habitat House, and redecorating the living. Melisa and I even got to help Dad B pick out some recliners for his 'new' living room. Saturday evening, we went back to Mom's for a movie w/ her and my brother. Sunday morning was good-byes to my family and worship at Gerald's church. Then, we hit the road. Christmas will be here before we know it!Nana gave us all Christmas jammies!Apparently, it was time to wrestle with Uncle AaronUncle Scott joined in the funHanging out at the Boerger house

John came over and spent Saturday with us and, as always, we had a great time. I miss seeing him as much as used to, but that's what employment and a life will do! We played outside w/ the girls and he made homemade egg rolls for dinner. A-MAZ-ING!!!! His birthday is this week, so we had red velvet cupcakes w/ cream cheese icing for dessert. Too fun! John, we love you and are so thankful to celebrate another year of your life!

We spent the weekend with both of our older brothers (and Melisa, of course). We had the BEST time!
Thanks to the Boerger B & B for your hospitality. We lounged around the house and enjoyed visiting, lots of yummy food (too much), a family Bible study, time at the park and Paul and Bethy even took a dip in the pool! They confirmed that it was cooooold. Melisa and I had some much needed girl time. We had massages and pedicures on Saturday morning then enjoyed chatting on the porch. She is a precious soul and not only a sister, but also a dear friend. J & M, thanks for everything - it was perfect!
After a couple of days with the Boergers, we headed into Houston and spent the day with my brother. I so love that guy! We met up at his shop and saw lots of his new treasures - beautiful. We headed to lunch and overly enjoyed a diner lunch! Yum! Then, we went to a park and all laughed and played in the beautiful weather. It was great to watch the girls with my brother and hear their giggles. Uncle Aaron wasn't done spoiling, so we headed to Rice village to visit the toy store and Gap. Guess what Lou picked??? Yep, a dinosaur! Soon she will learn to enjoy shopping for clothes, but apparently not yet. So, Bethy banked with lots of goodies from Gap that she looooves. My little diva! It is always sad for me to leave my brother, but it was time to head back home. The girls were zonked out before we even got to I45 !
We were sad that time just didn't allow for us to stop in and see our dear friends in Spring, but hopefully next trip. Also, the girls were just getting over their week-long fevers, so we didn't want to expose them to any kids.
It was an amazing weekend and we are so blessed to have friendships with our brothers (and sil!). Thanks, all!

Halloween '09

Such a fun time with all the festivities! We started out the week before with the block party at the church. The girls had a good time playing all the fun games and seeing their friends in costumes. Bethany was Doctor Barbie and Lou was a dinosaur!

Next on the itinerary was the party and costume parade at Lauren's school. She didn't want to wear her Dinosaur costume because she didn't want to scare her friends! I told her if she didn't wear it, she wouldn't get any treats. Her response...."Dinosaurs don't eat treats." Geez! Somehow, her teacher convinced her to wear it!

Madi got to go to the party with Auntie! She was so good!The real Lou....They do a finger painting on their window for each season - here is Lauren's jack-o-lantern.

On Friday, they all dressed up at Paul's office. He went as Clark Kent/Superman!

On Friday night, we went to "Literacy Night" at Bethany's school. The teachers dressed as their favorite book characters and had several games set up. Bethy got tons of candy - too much and it wasn't even Halloween yet! We 'camped' in the living room that night (a tradition). We watched Disney's Earth, ate popcorn and had hot chocolate! Fun family memories!

Taylor was in Bethany's preschool class last year. They're not in the same kindergarten class, but it is fun to have her at the same school!Her friend, Kaitlyn, who is in her class.

Saturday morning, Nana & Buster arrived! We played around the house then headed to Elyjah's birthday party. More fun at the park with friends in costume! Crazy games and Krispy Kreme donuts were a hit.

Little Abby had her "Honey" (aka Haley's mom, Kim) at the party, too. Mom and Kim have gotten to hang out before, so they had fun catching up and watching all the kids.
We rounded out the evening with traditional trick-or-treating in our neighborhood! FUN!!! The girls had a blast. It was fun to hear them giggle and run to the door. Too much candy.....

We had so much fun having Autumn for 3 nights and Isaac for 1 while Tammy had Christian! It was bittersweet for me because I would've loved to have been in the waiting room when he came into the world, but I'm thankful they are like family and the kids do great at our house. Lou had a blast with Autumn!Tammy will hate that Autumn's hair isn't even combed in these pictures. I was lucky to get us all out the door for carpool on short notice, so the hair (for all of us but Beth) had to wait! We dropped Bethy off at school then took an impromptu trip to play at the mall before it got too crowded. The girls we sooooo cute together!

Tammy was doing great, so she and I walked to the park, too, while the doctor got their paperwork together. Isaac came home from the hospital with us on Friday and we had a picnic on Saturday for lunch. They all played outside for 4+ hours solid that day!

I love these kids as my own and we are so blessed to have our best friends less than an hour away!

Divine Appointment

There are times in our lives that I believe are Divinely appointed by God. [I know, I know - all moments are from Him, but sometimes I think He goes for a gold star for extra effort!] Last Saturday was one of those times for our family. Hang with me here as I tell you about it...... It is worth your patience and needs your prayer.
Paul and I took the girls to Little People park which is kind of tucked back in the neighborhood - in other words, you don't just stumble upon it. For such a beautiful Saturday, I was surprised that we had the place to ourselves - at least until Laura & Bradley walked up with their two little ones.
It started out with a simple chat about the UT game and ended in a commitment of prayer for them and their nephew. They were in town to visit Laura's brother, his wife and their one-month-old son. Matthew was born at 25 weeks (for those men out there who have no idea what that means.....a 'term' pregnancy is 40 weeks), so he had only spent just over half the time most babies do in his mommy's oven. As you can imagine, that comes with many medical concerns. To hear more of the details and follow Matthew's progress, visit the blog that Laura set up for him here.
He is in the hospital downtown and his parents are staying in the Ronald McDonald house since they live near Weatherford and have no other family near. I ask that you join us in prayer for Matthew and all those who love him. If I become aware of another way to help, I'll let you know. I'm sure they'll appreciate your prayers!

A Weekend at Nana's

The girls and I took advantage of a three-day weekend and headed to the panhandle to see Nana! I love being in my Mom's house during the fall. It was cold outside and perfect inside. We took Buster for a check-up (he's a whopping 2 1/2 lbs.), went to the pumpkin patch, and saw Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs all on Saturday. So, that justified it being a "jammies day" on Sunday! We had a fire in the fireplace all day, stuffed the scarecrow, and carved a jack-o-lantern. Judy (aka Sissy) came and hung out for the afternoon as well. It was such a fun and relaxing weekend! After spending the weekend with my mom, the girls and I met up with my dad for some playtime and lunch. We started out at the play area in the mall and visited the pet shop before we left. Before leaving, the girls had King promising to buy them a guinea pig or bunny for Christmas (w/ parental approval, of course)! They've talked about it ever since...guess there's no turning back now.
The girls had a ball running around Chuck E. Cheese's and Bethany got a slew of tickets. Lou mainly rode the games that didn't give tickets, so I tried to compensate by throwing a few skeet ball games myself ;) The girls loved playing with King and slept great in the car when we hit the road!

In my attempts to perk up my sick Bethy, I hung some Halloween garland in the girls' room. One of her favorites is one that Uncle Aaron sent a couple of years ago that says "boo" on it. So, her comment upon entering, "Where's the boo's?" I had to chuckle because my first thought went to "booze". I guess that's where my mind wanders after 4 days home with sick kids!

6 Years Old

On Bethany's actual birthday (as opposed to 'party day'), she got to open the gifts that were mailed to her. She also got to have cupcakes at school with her class!

What a wonderful weekend! We stayed with old friends and our kids played like crazy. We spent more treasured time with our family. We laughed and cried AND laughed until we cried! Jeremy & Melisa's celebration was fantastic!

All of Vonda's siblings, Mom, all but 1 spouse, and 3 cousins were able to come in from Indiana! We made the most of being together and lots of laughter was heard - just as Vonda would've wanted!
We (Paul & I) were so honored to have some old, dear friends come in support of us and to show their respect to Vonda. Paul's best friend, Todd, flew in from Italy, TX to be by his side. I could go on and on about the Grays' friendship, but words could never do it justice. Having him there meant the world to us. Also, Paul's old college roommate and his wife drove up for the viewing. Then, Chris also came up the next day and was waiting for us outside the church after the funeral. Such amazing proof that friendships built on Christ will last into eternity! Thank you, Todd, Voss, Steph & Baby Bailey Shae.
You can listen to Vonda's funeral now. This same page has a link to the Sunday after the service. All of the family sang "It Is Well With My Soul" in front of the congregation.

On Saturday night, the sibs and cousins surprised me w/ birthday dessert and drinks at Chili's! They made what could've been the worst birthday ever one of the best. I love these people :) April, Landon, me & Paul

Camp Nana

My Mom (aka Nana) took the girls for a week this summer to give Paul and I some time and give the girls "Camp Nana"! How fun is that! Paul and I enjoyed our time by sleeping in, eating out, and just being w/o kids. Here's Lauren 'packing' her sunglasses to take to Nana's

I stayed a couple of nights when I went to pick up the girls. We took them out to some friends' home one evening. Billye Sue made a yummy dinner and Ronnie took the girls out on the 4-wheeler to see the horses and cows. Too fun!Not only did Nana take the girls to a drive-in movie, shopping, time w/ Sissy & Alex, and time w/ Grandma & Grandpa....Bethy ALSO lost her first tooth while she was there!On the way back to Fort Worth, we stopped in Snyder to play with Auntie, Uncle Gabe, Jared & AJ. They set up the waterslide and the kids had a blast! Such a fun pit-stop along the way!

Landmark Times

I'm not even sure how to begin this post or what to write. I wanted to document some of our last days with Paul's mom, but it just seems so morbid unless you knew this amazing woman! I encourage you to read this post that I wrote in May of 2007 about when we found out about Vonda's bone cancer. She lived an amazing life and leaves an even more amazing legacy. She WON her battle with cancer because she receives the ultimate prize - eternity with the Lord! We found out on July 21st that the cancer moved from her bones to her liver and she was put on hospice on the 23rd. [It was that weekend that we all gathered to witness Jeremy & Melisa's vows as posted below and spend time with Mom B.]

I laid in bed with her as I said my good-byes and we laughed and cried together. It is a memory I will never forget. One thing I asked her was if she was excited to sing with the angels. Her response - in typical Vonda fashion - was that she was going to "shake [her] booty and cut a rug in Heaven!"

Vonda celebrated her heavenly birthday on August 12, 2009, as Gerald, Sarah and a few friends sang her into the Lord's arms. The celebration of her life was amazing and deserves its own post, but until I complete it, here are some pictures of our last days with Vonda. There aren't many simply because we were not focused on pictures, but more on our precious moments with her.

Jeremy & Melisa's Vows

With Vonda's health worsening and not being sure of what the future days held, we (the Boerger family) gathered together in Plainview to witness Jeremy and Melisa's marriage. With an August 22 celebration still on the calender, we added a special date of Sunday, July 26th as their official wedding date! It was a beautiful time that Vonda got to share with us all. Such a precious time. Watching Melisa come down the aisle with her father. Now that was a special treat - when Melisa called to tell her parents of the change in plans, they were in the mountains on vacation. In order to be a part of their daughter's day and spend time with Vonda, they loaded up and headed to Plainview as well!Melisa's dear friend, Stephanie, lives in Lubbock and was able to stand with her at the wedding. The church family put together a HUGE spread to feed all of us after the wedding.

Just a funny sidenote: Jeremy, Melisa, John, Paul and I all stayed at my mom's house. Jeremy slept in the girls' bed, so I had to get a picture of him w/ the Hello Kitty bedding!

It was a beautiful wedding, but a bittersweet weekend. We all knew that we reason we were all there to see Jeremy and Melisa exchange their vows early. What a precious time we had!

17th Annual Girls Trip

Seventeen years! It is hard to believe that we have had this tradition for so long. This year, we celebrated our annual Girls' Trip in Brenham, TX. We stayed at my brother's business partners' country home and loved it. Our family has spent holidays out there and it was a treat to have our girls trip there as well. Aaron came over to prep the house and then took us all to lunch before heading back to Houston. It was good to get to see him!
I was the 'hostess' this year and provided the party favors - personalized slippers! They were a hit and I wear mine ALL the time. We also started a new tradition this year and each day one of us lead a devotional for the group. It was an awesome time with 3 women I admire greatly.
Yes, we are dorks and NO we did not wear these hats for more than a few seconds! This is us at the Blue Bell Creamery which was started in Brenham. YUM! We watched a short video about it since they don't give tours on the weekends. You better believe that we had some ice cream, though!The area also has several wineries and we visited a couple of them. The first was Windy Hill Winery. We sampled several of their wines and laughed with some other wine tourists.The big treat this year was stomping grapes at Pleasant Hill Winery! Soooo fun! We picked our own grapes, all got in a big vat to stomp them, got purple feet and left our prints on suvineer t shirts. We, of course, sampled there as well and each brought home a bottle or two ;)

After stomping, we met up with Aaron at an outlet between Brenham & Houston so he could take me to the airport. I left on Saturday so that I could be in Plainview with all of the Boerger family to spend time with Vonda and witness Jeremy and Melisa exchange their vows.

Lou is "1-2-3"

Now when you ask Lauren how old she is, she counts, "1-2-3!" It is too cute. She got to celebrate several different times: we had pizza and presents while Sarah and her family were here, she got 3 packages on her actual birthday, then we had her party on Saturday! I thought we'd do a smaller party this year and only invite the little kids who are in her Sunday school class (and her 'cousins', of course). Well, plus siblings, there was 19 kids! When you add the 16 adults....well, you can imagine that we had quite a crowd. It was wonderful. We had a backyard Splash Bash with a pool, slip-n-slide, & a big waterslide (thanks to Sarah & Gabe). We had 'beach bear' cupcakes and popsicles. The party favors were the really cool holders for ice cream cones or popsicles. Thanks to all who came and made it so special. And, thanks to those of you who couldn't and called or sent goodies and made my baby feel like a princess.

Smith Visit

When Sarah came down so we could go to Melisa's, they made a family trip out of it and Gabe and the boys stayed here with Paul and the girls. Those are two good men to allow us mommies to go away for a night without a gripe! Thanks, men. They had fun here playing Rock Band and on the waterslide. On Sunday night we had Mark and his family over, too, to celebrate Lauren's birthday. We ate pizza and she got to open presents from Grandma and the Smiths. Sarah crocheted her a blanket that she looovesss and the Boergers sent some adorable outfits and jammies! It was fun having everyone here.

Girls Night

My sil, Sarah, and I took a road trip so we could celebrate our future sil Melisa. The drive was fun and laughed alot! We discovered one of the best stops - Woody's Smokehouse. We just pulled over for gas and the place was packed and now I know why. That place was awesome - so awesome that we stopped again on our way home. They have all kinds of gourmet jellies, candies, jerky, etc. They make it all there and their inventory was huge. We got lots of good laughs from "Woody's Smokehooouuuuussse" :)Granny Sarah knitting Lou's blanket along the way

Our final destination was Melisa house and it was great. We spent all day getting to know her dearest friends, sister, and daughter. We floated in the pool, drank monkey nipples, and ate junk. It was wonderful!

I had the treat of seeing one of my oldest and best friends last week. Jana and her kids were in Texas to visit family, so they stayed here one night. We got to meet their newest addition - Baby Avary! She was adorable. For real - adorable. Her elder two, Nathan & Rylee, had a blast with our girls and they all played nonstop. It was great to catch up with Jana face to face and get a classic "Jana Hug" - she gives the BEST hugs!Hey, look - matching double chins! If only it was cute @ 30 like it is as a baby.

4th of July Weekend

We started out the weekend with a cookout at a friend's. The kids had a blast...and so did the adults! We ate and laughed - always good times.We had some uninvited dinner guests. GROSS!Then, time for tradition - Dinosaur Valley State Park to play in the river. This year, several families joined us. It was a blast.Then, off to tailgate, eat our Chili's picnic, and watch the fireworks in Granbury.Thanks to all of our friends who joined us to celebrate the 4th AND took pictures!

Vaca Part III - Ruidoso, NM

The day after we got home from our family vacation, the girls and I headed to Nana's house. We spent a few nights there, but went to Ruidoso, NM for most of the week! Judy and Alex came, too, and we had a really good time. Some of my favorite women in one of my favorite places!

North Webster, Indiana: The climax of our cross-country roadtrip

Paul's maternal grandmother and Vonda's sisters and brother all live near Fort Wayne. So each summer for the past 21 years, the whole family gathers at "the lake". They rent a large cabin that can house them all (this year we had 34 at one point!) and get a boat for the week. It is a week full of laughing, skiing, swimming, laughing, eating, playing games, laughing, and simply enjoying being together. "The Lake" is a priority to this family - the sibs and cousins schedule their summers around it. This is a special family with an amazing bond. Everyone enjoys being together and the camaraderie is precious.
This was the second time we've been since being married (we went in 2000) and it was fun to see how everyone has changed. We will make a point to go more often now. We had a blast and the girls loooooved it! They had so much fun playing with the cousins and entertaining the adults. Lou loved the boat and Bethy loved the water. Bethany got up on skis on her second attempt and went about 250 yards! She was an acrobat on the tube and seemed like a pro. Such a wonderful trip!

Vaca Part I - Arkansas

We hit the road early on Saturday instead of leaving Friday night as planned in order to miss the storms. Oh the irony as you'll soon see. Our final destination was Lake Webster, Indiana to spend time with Paul's mom's side of the family. They've been gathering at the lake for 21 years, but more of that to come. Soooo, we decided to take our time and enjoy some spots along the way. Gerald & Vonda were kind enough to let us borrow their pop-up camper and my dad let us use his truck. The pair made for great traveling!

First stop: Devil's Den State Park, Arkansas

This is a GREAT place and we could've stayed several more days. They had tons of trails, a river, a great pool with water slides and a separate kids area, a cool playground, and a beautiful waterfall over their dam. A big shout out to the corps of engineers who developed that place!
Lucky for us, Saturday was a beautiful and sunny day. We took advantage of that and enjoyed the pool and our campsite. Little did we know that it was our last full day of no clouds - not to mention the rain. On Sunday, we took a hike through the rain, but it was really beautiful and kept us cool (and wet). Paul and Bethany went down into a cave to explore and we walked under a waterfall. Another cave was called "The Icebox" because of the temperature change inside. It really was pretty remarkable how much cooler it was (it is the foggy picture). All in all, we had a great stay at DD, but the rain wasn't going to let up, so we passed on our second night there and headed north.

Since my last post was negative, here's some positive:
I simply LOVE that dinner as a family at the table is a priority. Always has been, always will be. I also think it is wonderful that my hubby holds my hand every single time we pray (as long as I am within reach). It can be at dinner, at church, or anywhere...he always makes sure we connect as we approach the Throne.

King's Visit

My Dad came to visit this weekend and the girls were quite entertaining (as always!). He is letting us take his truck on vacation since our van doesn't have a tow package (we're taking the B's pop-up). I think it will be hard for Paul to give it back! Thanks to both of our families who are allowing this to be an even better vacation (we leave Friday!).
The weather was beautiful, so we spent most of the time outside. The only time we were indoors was to sleep and when the guys went antiquing. Nana sent the girls a new slip-n-slide (thanks, Nana), so Paul and King set it up and it provided lots of laughter! We laughed so hard and the girls just love it. We enjoyed Cousin's on the back porch Friday night and grilled burgers on Saturday. I tell ya, we are loving the back porch and yard so much.
Dad also brought a little piece of history - and a big piece of decor - along with him. I now am the proud owner of my family's old newspaper store-front sign. This is a big deal to me and deserves its own post; so, I hope to get all of my history facts straight then share it in a later post.

We've been in the water pretty much everyday since we got the pool out. I love that the girls are bigger and I can simply watch and not have to coax Lou into the pool. We also had some friends over while their parents were on a date. The girls love having playmates in the water!

Isaac & Autumn

We had so much fun this week with Isaac and Autumn. Their Mommy & Daddy took a get-away to celebrate Todd's birthday. They had a great retreat and we had a wonderful time with their kids! Tam brought them on Thursday afternoon and stayed till Autumn went to bed to help with the transition. I enjoyed catching up with her while the kids played.

On Friday we woke up and had powdered donuts then headed to the park for playgroup. It was fun to watch all of the kids play together. It is such a blessing that all of my friends' kids are all so much fun!

After the park, we came home for lunch then swimming in the backyard. Look how excited they are! Lou was tired of pictures and ready to dive in.

Friday night we grilled hot dogs and made homemade ice-cream. Our sweet neighbor, Dorris, gave us her old ice-cream maker that is almost as old as me! This was the first time I've made it and, I must admit, it was pretty good! The thought it was really cool and enjoyed the special treat. It was a perfect, all-American day.

1st Swim of the Season

We got the girls all geared up and excited about swimming at the Y a few weeks ago. Then, when we got there, it was the ONE day a year that the pool is closed for lifeguard training! So, we improvised and put the pool up in the backyard. While the girls 'helped' Paul set it up, I ran to Sonic for some ice cream cones as a surprise treat. It was a fun afternoon as a family.The importance of swim diapers.....

We let Lou start swimming before we took off her regular diaper. Check out how much that thing can hold! Whoa! I just had to take before and after pictures!

Playdate

We had a fun treat a few weeks ago....a playdate with the Bethy's fav bud and her little sister. I also got to enjoy time with their mommy! We are soooo sad that they moved further north, but thankful we still get to see them. My sweet husband spent a week in Boston for a conference and I'm so proud that he took so many pictures! Mother's Day Weekend

Our reasons for the weekend:Me and my Mom (not the best pic, sorry mom) after an awesome night of worship and a yummy dinner at Cattle Barron's in Lubbock. Paul and I went to the Saturday night service with her so that we could go w/ Vonda on Sunday morning. The girls stayed in Plainview with the cousins and crew (Thank y'all for watching them and giving us some special time with my Mom!). Thankfully, they took tons of pictures and the girls had soooo much fun! She was so sweet to let us spend the majority of our time with the Boergers and crash at her house. She often says how blessed we are to have them - and we agree!

My beautiful MIL resting on the porch. She is the personification of endurance, faith, and hope. Nothing - not even cancer - can take away this lady's joy! Her trust in the Lord has encouraged us all. It was so much fun to have all of the family together for her special day!

Because we had the privilege of spending the previous week with my Mom, we focused our time over Mother's Day weekend with Paul's mom, Vonda (aka Grandma). She knew our little family was coming, but the rest of the crew was a surprise for Vonda! All 16 Boergers were together for the weekend all for Mom B. It was a wonderful weekend and treasured memories. I stole this Boerger family picture from my SIL Sarah's blog.

Nana Week!

The girls and I got to spend a whole week at Nana's earlier this month. Paul was in Boston for work, so we loaded up and headed to the panhandle. We did a lot of relaxing and playing. Here's our week in pictures:

The girls spent many hours in their "nakeds" playing in the water in Nana's backyard. I tell ya, that yard is beautiful! The girls love exploring out there, moving rocks, and playing in the pond and fountain. The moving of rocks and playing in the fountain and pond are "no-no's", but the girls often get away with it ;) The problem was keeping Lou out of the water when she wasn't supposed to - I know, double standards!

Nana made a bubble mixture so after Lauren poured hers out, Nana came to the rescue!

We also had a BIG treat of getting to meet Sarah and the boys in Lubbock for a playdate! The girls love playing with their cousins and I enjoyed visiting with my SIL. We have been blessed with a growing friendship over the years. We met up at a really cool park then went to McD's for ice-cream. It was such a fun day!

One evening, the girls decided that the rocks in Nana's front yard made a great stage. They performed over and over and over :)

On Friday, we got to spend a couple of hours with Grandma & Grandpa. They had been in Houston all week and we we're coming back the next weekend for Mother's Day, so we made up for lost time on the next trip. Even though this one was a very quick stop, we had lots of laughs, hugs, and kisses! Thanks, G & V for being so understanding and supportive. So glad we got to spend the whole next weekend w/ you!

We headed to Floydada to have lunch with King. The girls loved going through all of the stuff in his office and all the yummy snacks he kept giving them. Thanks, Dad, for lunch; it was good to see you. I do hope, though, that this is the last time my girls are in the principal's office!!!

Bethany got a big girl hair cut while we were in HC. Linda's daughter was my best friend in elementary school, so this was special to me, too :)

On one of our last nights, we had a slumber party! We watched movies and ate junk food in the living room floor. Too bad Alex had a fever, she and Judy were going to join us :( We did get to spend time w/ them (even though I didn't take any pictures).

How Great Is Our God

On mine and the girls' drive home from "Nana Week" (blog post to come when I get the pictures), we took a new route because we were headed pick up Paul at the airport (he had been in Boston - blog post to come soon). The road took us from the South Plains, over the Caprock, through a few small canyons, and landed us in North Texas. Texas has a beauty that, I believe, only Texans can truly appreciate. Even more, some areas of the great state can only be found beautiful in the eyes of the locals. I have been blessed to live in Texas all my life and have resided in several varied landscapes.

God blessed me with a beautiful drive home after a rather emotionally charged time in Hale Center. I was able to sit in the silence of the front seat (with a Disney movie in the back seat) and look at His amazing creation. I drove across the flat south plains and could see for miles across the empty fields until they reached the horizon. We drove over the Caprock and watched the land tumble into the little canyons below. We passed fields of wind turbines which hold their own beauty. I watched a family of deer trot across the highway, a roadrunner buzz along the shoulder of the road, several jackrabbits scurry out of the way, and I could look into my backseat to see the most precious wildlife God has blessed me with.

As I drove, I made myself shut off the reeling of my mind and just watch the world around me. I tried to "be still and know" and notice His creation. I interpreted the beauty as His way to remind me that He is great and so much bigger than anything I can ever imagine. The Chris Tomlin song played over and over in my heart and mind and gave me a peace that passes all understanding.

Y'all, there are so many things I want to blog. SOOOOO MANY. But, I'm tired. I can't keep up the pace of my life right now, but soon I will sit and blog blog blog.
